"From the moment I walked into ..."

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

From the moment I walked into A&E I found the staff friendly, curtious and professional. I was admitted and as my condition deteriorated I am told by my family that the staff acted very promptly and professionally in giving care and easing the immense pain. From diagnosis to the surgery to ward care to discharge I can't fault the care given to me. Due to the severity of what I was admitted with it's thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and Surgeon I walked out again, for that I am eternally grateful to them all.

The ward staff that I met whilst in there were brilliant, all of them were a credit to the hospital

What could be improved

Staff levels need looking at, all the staff I encountered worked from start to finish of their shifts, sometimes missing breaks or taking them very late. Senior nurses also need to be onhand to assist the junior ones. I had to wait o hours on the assessment ward for painrelief line to be put in because a senior nurse was not available.

Anything else?

On the whole Bolton Hospital treated me brilliantly and thankfully I walked out again. The whole package is a vast difference to years gone by. A credit to the NHS and to Bolton.

Thanks
