What I liked
When i was admitted to Tameside it was as an emergency patient. the care at A&E was a good standard, although not speedy very thorough. The problem could not be sought there and then and i was transferred but pain relief was fast and effective.
What could be improved
The problem did take a while to be found but while on 2 different wards there was a vast difference in care.
On one ward the care was of an excellant standard, whislt the other ward was sadly lacking basic care. from being prescibed and blood transfusion i didnt which was meant for a different lady in a bed just further down from mine, ( i shudder to think what may have happended had i not been able to converse or been to afraid to go against a doctor) need to an elderly lady not being fed and helped to eat for 2 days. A tray being placed in front of an elderly lady who is clearly not able to feed herself in not in my mind not good nursing care.
On the other hand when i was tranferred to a different ward WARD 12 the standard was impeccable. Good all round staff, excellent consultant and understudies and a job basically well handled.
very thoughful nurses and a true compassion not often seen anymore.
Anything else?
i would like to thank Ward 12 for all the care given to me and if all the other wards to commit to gaining the same standard, the hospital could become a flagship to all other NHS services.
WELL DONE WARD 12
