"First visit to fertility clinic"

About: Royal Berkshire Hospital

This was my first visit to the fertility clinic following referral from my GP.

I was seen by a nurse who had most of the relevant notes and was happy to also discuss some more recent blood test results I had brought with me.

They took me through the next steps and clearly explained what should happen next, with plenty of opportunities for me to ask questions.

I was also encouraged to phone the nurse advice line if I had any queries after the consultation.

My only negative point is that the appointment letter led me to expect an ultrasound at this appointment, which doesn't actually happen at the first appointment, as it needs to take place mid-cycle.

Thank you for your positive feedback about your first visit to the Fertility Clinic. Some patients will have an ultrasound on their first visit while for others, it may be decided during the initial consultation to organise a scan later during a specific time in the cycle. We are sorry that this was not explained to you.
