"Urgent Care Nurse!"

About: Hemel Hempstead Hospital

The hospital was very busy when I attended with my daughter who had slipped over & injured her foot but I still felt that I had good service from both XRay & the doctor on duty who said that my daughter needed crutches, a Velcro boot & would get an appointment at the fracture clinic.

However the service I then got from the nurse was appalling, they put a bandage on my daughters foot (even though there was no obvious wound apart from swelling) going right up to her knee as despite what the doctor had written they said children didn't have Velcro boots. We struggled all weekend with the bandage as it offered absolutely no support for my daughter.

When I then spoke to the fracture clinic on the Monday they said she had a soft tissue injury & needed to keep wearing the boot that my daughters notes said she had!

The fracture clinic were appalled that her notes were wrong & that my daughter had been allowed to leave with just a bandage, possibly causing even more damage.

I had even queried the bandage with her & been fobbed off, I now wish I had asked to see the doctor again to confirm but the nurse said they had discussed it with the doctor & a bandage was fine, a complete lie.
