"nothing, i walked out of the maternity ..."

About: Royal Albert Edward Infirmary

(as the patient),

What I liked

nothing, i walked out of the maternity unit without being discharged i hated it so much

What could be improved

staffs attitude and work ethic, patient confidentiality and dignity.

Anything else?

staff didnt believe anythin i said, didnt close cutains for examinations when asked to do so they gave "dirty looks" and continued to leave them open. egnored what i told them i wasnt feeling well and was told "you have had paracetamol what are you complaining about". when told of concerns for my child they said they had cared for my child throughout the night and that he was fine which was a lie, they had not cared for him though the night. also i belive they are "making up" the notes, i read though that they had written that they had been assisting me with breast feeding when infact they HAD NOT and infact i contracted mastitus within 2days due to lack of assistance! my parents also commented that my son was jaundice to the nurses and they were completley dismissted, when infact it turns out my son was jaundice and had to spend days on the lightbed, if the nurses had paid more attention in the first place it could of been avoided. i feel that on the maternity ward the nurses just do not care and 6 hours after having a hemorage i was asked "when are you going home you have had the baby now". i didnt know who to complain to at the time because to tell you the truth i just wanted to get out of there, i will never have another child at wigan hospital and i have also advised my friends, who are now having there babys at bolton hospital instead
