"Solution for patients car parking fees at Royal Bolton"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

(as the patient),

When you have an appointment at the hospital, as I did for the general outpatients department regarding my lower stomach, it is not fair to have to pay for parking when a ticket can be sent with the appointment to cover the time, anybody who is visiting a patient should have to pay. The ticket that is sent can have the DATE, TIME and DEPARTMENT TO ATTEND on it. In this day with the age of computers it can be done and the parking attendant can check very quickly.

The trust provides car parking for patients and visitors and needs to maintain these. We maintain road surfaces, install lighting, run closed circuit television and employ security staff. We use income from car parking to pay for these. If we did not charge for car parking we would still need to provide all these measures, but would need to use our regular revenue allocations, which would reduce the amount of money available for direct patient care and treatment.
