What could be improved

It's August 2009 and since February '09 I'm trying to get an appointment at the Retinal Unit. The only method of contact given is phone number, which is never answered. I tried multiple times main number 0161 276 1234 and retinal unit's 0161 276 5547, no luck. No option to leave voice mail, no option to send e-mail to this hospital. After 6 months of this joke I need to go back to my GP and hope he can schedule a visit to specialist somewhere else.
