I attended Wishaw General A&E in July with a swollen ankle, following a walking accident the previous day.
After a wait, I was taken through to the minor injuries unit and examined by Margaret. I was immediately sent for an x-ray and, after reviewing the results, she confirmed I had a fracture. I was of course disappointed at this diagnosis but have to commend Margaret for her sensitivity in explaining the condition and her sense of humour, which had me laughing despite the circumstances.
Within a little over half an hour of being examined, Margaret had applied a cast, provided crutches, gave me advice on coping with both cast and crutches and I was free to go home.
Margaret's patient engagement, communication and management skills were exemplary and a credit to the NHS. I am grateful to her and her colleagues for the care I received.
