My Mum was due to have a sigmoidoscopy at Solihull hospital at the end of August. She had a phone call from the hospital saying that it had been rearranged to Good Hope 2 days later. They offered her a taxi due to the inconvenience of the change in hospital and date.
I accompanied Mum to Good Hope in the taxi. From the minute we arrived at the check in desk, we were greeted and looked after. The service was timely and smooth. The admitting nurse Elaine was very professional, allowing me and Mum to ask questions.
Mum was very anxious as one of her friends had died following a sigmoidoscopy (we realise there could be other reasons for her death, but nevertheless it caused Mum a great deal of anxiety). Elaine reassured Mum and was so supportive.
Emma was with Mum whe she actually had the procedure and Mum said she was also professional and kind. When the investigation was complete, a nurse came and told me that everything was over and Mum was sitting having tea and toast. I was actually then invited into the recovery area as there were no more patients.
I am an Advanced Nurse Practitioner at Birmingham Children's Hospital and I felt so proud that the nurses in the endoscopy suite were so good. they were happy, pleasant, professional and kind. I can't remember all their names, but I would be grateful if you could pass on my thanks.
I would also like to thank Dr Mottershead. I didn't actually meet him, but Mum said he was lovely!
