"Cleaning and coordination issue"

About: Hillingdon Hospital

On 17 Sept 2015 my wife was 2 months pregnant and she had severe pain and bleeding on 17th sept 2015 at 10 am. she was taken to an emergency reception of Hillingdon hospital, despite her serious condition she was made to wait for 45 min before any doctor see her.

later in the day she was admitted in 4th floor Fleming ward female section.

I found that cleanness was major issue specially toilets which were very dirty not cleaned for long time.. and hospital building is in a very sorry state.

Tough the nursing staff was very friendly and caring but they were over-stretched and over burdened. There was lack of coordination between nursing staff, doctors and admin.

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry to hear of your experience within the emergency department. Unfortunately the department is extremely busy and at times unable to respond in the timeliest way we would wish to do so. We offer you and your wife our apology for the distress this delay caused to you.

I am sorry that you found cleanliness a major issue on Fleming Ward. Cleanliness is a high priority in all clinical areas. I am sorry this fell below the high standard expected. Audits are undertaken by the Cleaning staff, Matron and Ward staff and have a very high compliance rate – consistently over 90%. If at any time an issue is highlighted the ward staff and if necessary the Hospital Rapid Response Team are instantly alerted and problems are swiftly resolved.
