I was due to go into Crosshouse Hospital, and I was terrified and felt really ill on the day. I had got to the end of my tether with the pain.
My husband phoned the hospice and arrangements were made for me to come in on the same day. I was familiar with the hospice from attending Solas.
Although I was frightened to begin with, I soon calmed down after being put at ease by the young doctor who explained everything to me, and was very good at settling me down. It felt like I'd come home. Every single person here has been so good during my stay, they take time with me, praise me, and have given me confidence.
I've made a good friend in the person in the next bed, and for the first time in months I am pain free. It's great to know I can come back another time if I need to.
