"I was treated through A & ..."

About: Royal Oldham Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was treated through A & E for a shattered wrist. The A & E department were excellent and treated me almost immediately. I came back the following day and and my wrist manipulated back into place and this was done in A & E.

When I went to see the orthopeadic specialist the following day, he immedieately admitted me to hospital to have my wrist operated on. I had the operation that day and was sent home the follwoing day after wonderful care on the ward (T4).

I then had follow up care both by the orthopaedic doctors and the hand clinic. They were excellent in showing me how to start using my wrist with exercises etc.

What could be improved

Some staff were 'Bank Staff' and were unsure of procedures. There should be a little more training in this area. This did not detract from the care I received.

Anything else?

I would like to thank all the staff at for the excellent care that I received during my treatment - at A & E, Orthopaedic Doctors, staff on T4 and last buit not least the staff at the hand clinic who helped me get my wrist back to something like normality.

Thank you for your comments. I have passed them to the Divisional Director and the Divisional Nurse Manager. They will also pass these on to the staff in the Hand Clinic.
