"Neurology and Nurse Care Service"

About: Worthing Hospital

Over the past year our experience of the Neurologist and their team has been extremely upsetting and traumatic at a time when already coming to terms with a diagnosis of a life threatening illness.

Results from ECG,EEG,MRI were not made available for 4 months nor was the GP informed correctly and despite a complaint at that time, the issue was covered up. During the time of waiting for test results the patient was admitted to hospital twice and the second time the results were chased up and made known.

Had the results been made known months earlier the hospital admission could have been avoided.

Then the medication caused serious side effects but there were ignored and despite many other medications being available the patient was told to just keep taking them.

During this time the prescriptions were incorrect and the GP told incorrect information by the nurse care service. Eventually the side effects caused such a devastating impact on the patients life we pushed for different medication in such a way they had to finally listen. The new medication was much better but the dose was incorrect, causing further problems.

The new dosage was not correctly passed on to the GP which meant the meds could not be accessed as they should have been.

This poor effort on behalf of the nurse care services and neurologist has had a massive negative impact and all they can say is the patient should be able to lead a normal life.

Due to their lack of care and correct liaison with the GP and ignoring the patient when side effects were suffered, have only added trauma at a very stressful time of life.

We can no longer bear to attend out patient appointments as we are so fed up with unkindness and lack of care and lack of hospital-GP liaison. It has been so depressing to attend and to see how a young patient is treated there.
