"Noisy ward but good nursing care at Rotherham General"

About: Rotherham Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

The best thing about the way I was treated for a total left hip replacement (due to an accident) was the nursing care on ward B3 and being offered choice of an anaesthetic i.e general or local (epidural), I chose the second and had no nausea or other side effects post-op.

However I was disappointed I had to wait 58 hours in agony for an operation, the ward also had noisy ward staff during the first part of the nights, they were coughing and chatting at the ward desk just outside bay 1. I also had to wait 7 hours for medication from the pharmacy after I was told I was discharged.

I would like to thank all of the staff on ward 3 (except for the few mentioned above) and the operating theatre staff, anaesthetists and the porters.

Thank you for posting your comments and many apologies for the delay in our response.

We are so sorry that it took so long for your operation and for you to receive your drugs to take home; we agree that this is not appropriate.

We are working on both of these issues at the moment in order to try and ensure that the patients' experience is made much better. We will take on board your comments and hopefully improve the service we offer in future.

Thank you again for taking the time to post your views.
