"the exit sign!"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

the exit sign!

What could be improved

the treatment i received in endoscopy. I was having a gastroscopy. The procedure was done by a nurse which i understand can be common practice and nurses are trained to carry out such procedures. That's fine. It was the attitude. I was very nervous and wanted some sedation. I had to fight for this and the nurse laughed at me when I did protest. I was told it will only take a few minutes and I can go home quicker by not being sedated. I was traumatised by the procedure and will not be going near the place again.

Anything else?

If nurses are trained to carry out such procedures they should be trained how to communicate and care for patients as well. I was led to believe these were fundamental values of nursing. Management should be monitering this nurses practice as it is apparent that all this nurse is bothered about is getting the tube down your throat as quick as possible and has no intention of providing any 'care' for the patient.
