On September 5th I went into the Arthur South Day Procedure Unit for prostate surgery.
The nurses who welcomed me and cared for me proved excellent all day long [ I was not discharged until 5pm]. They also took the trouble to regularly update my wife as to how I was doing. (What they did not know was that my wife was also a nurse and had trained at a leading London hospital and I have also worked in a large city hospital] We were both impressed. Nothing appeared too much trouble and the nurses listened empathetically. The nurse was outstanding and has real patient skills.
The surgeon was businesslike and kept me fully informed before and after the operation. The anaesthetist was also good and re-assured me when it mattered.
I went in feeling apprehensive and left knowing I had been professionally and thoughtfully cared for and would therefore warmly recommend the unit, hospital and nursing staff.
