"Lyme Disease diagnosed too late"

About: Thames Valley

(as the patient),

I went to my GP with an obvious Erythema Migrans Rash and flu-like symptoms. I told her that I was pretty sure I had Lyme Disease and that an American client who had had the disease had advised me to get to the surgery as soon as possible. Instead of immediately treating me with a minimum two week course of Antibiotics, as per N. I. C. E Guidelines, she doubted my judgement and diagnosis and insisted on blood tests. The tests, which were positive, took a week to come back and the window for treatment had closed. So despite taking 2 weeks of Doxy and 3 further weeks of Clarithromycin, I now have this disabling and painful condition for life. As I am a self employed dog groomer the muscle and joint pain have had a massive impact on my business and income. I am disgusted and considering legal action.
