After speaking to the local pharmacist on Sunday I was advised to go to the hospital. From entering the hospital at Minor Injuries I was treated quickly with kindness and consideration. At no time was I made to I was wasting anyone's time although all I presented with was a really heavy cold. As I was due to start radiotherapy on returning home I just needed reassurance it was not turning into a chest infection. All the staff were polite, kind and very reassuring and so easy to talk to. The unit was bright clean and comfortable and I congratulate you and the staff for the running of the department so well. Why are there not more of these smaller but we'll run units, they could take a lesson from you.

Thanking you all again so much, recovered well and travel home on Saturday after a lovely week, fit and well for treatment.

Dear Margaret,

Many thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts about the care you received at our Minor injuries unit in Berwick. With your radiotherapy about to commence, I can appreciate why you wanted the reassurance about the possibility of an infection brewing and I am so glad that you received everything you needed from a team of staff who were welcoming and compassionate.

We have, as you may know, completely redesigned our emergency care service to separate urgent care from emergency care - our intention is that all patients benefit from being directed to the right place to receive swift care from skilled staff who are able to respond. It is lovely that you were able to witness this in action in a local facility.

I am delighted to hear that you have recovered well - can I wish you all the very best for the treatment that lies ahead ?
