"Could you tell me what your policy ..."

What could be improved? Could you tell me what your policy is for accomodating late visitors? I was visiting a family member between the stated hour of 2 to 3.30pm when a group of people arrived after the bell. They were told that they could not enter the ward but the baby could be brought out to them in the corridor accompanied by the mother. It seems to be a strange practice especially when hospitals are trying to adhere to a stricter hygiene code.
