"Ideas for Breastfeeding support group"

About: Lanarkshire Community Services

(as the patient),

Our breastfeeding support group in Rutherglen is not particularly helpful. Except for meeting other breastfeeding mothers we don't have much interaction with the health visitor present other than then weighing the babies if we ask for them to be weighed.

I feel they could take more interest in us and ask how our week had been. I also feel they could take the time to help introduce everyone so people are not left out. Also I feel that there should at least be tap water available as breastfeeding can be thirsty work and new mums can't always remember to bring some. Tea and coffee would make things more sociable and I'm sure mums would make a donation towards this.

Dear Mummys opinion,

Thank you for taking the time to give us your thoughts on the Breasfeeding Group. We are going to review the running of this clinic and ask other parents attending about their experiences so that we can improve the support we give to breastfeeding mums in the Rutherglen and Cambuslang area.

It is always helpful to get feedback from those attending a group or using a service so that we can improve and ensure we meet the needs of service users.

We will update you on what we have found and any changes that we will make in the future.

I hope this helps.

Many thanks

Laura

Dear Mummys opinion,

It’s been a while since you were in touch and I’m sorry for the delay in updating you. Since receiving your feedback we have reviewed the Breastfeeding Support Group environment and processes by speaking to other women attending the Group.

As a result I’m pleased to let you know that we have introduced a welcome pack which the Health Visiting Team supporting the group give to new attendees. We also offer water, juice and a snack for mums attending with their babies.

I’d like to thank you for influencing these changes through sharing your feedback; the mums and babies attending subsequently have provided positive feedback about their experience of the Group.

Many thanks

Laura
