"NHS Lanarkshire Occupational Therapy"

About: Lanarkshire Community Services / Occupational Therapy

(as the patient),

Amazing service has left me more in control of my life both in and out of work. I feel that now I can head off or just cope with bouts of depression and anxiety while still going into work and performing well. I cannot overstate the difference this had made.

After having problems attending work (always starting and ending the day late, frequently calling in sick or pleading to work from home) I attended the occupational therapy sessions at Airdrie Community Health centre. The exercises and advice given not only achieved the end goal - attending work in a timely and effective way - but has also left me with a far greater understanding of my own mental health issues. The effect of this has been that I now feel in control of my fate, rather than the vagaries of depression ruling my life. I cannot recommend highly enough this service for anyone who finds themselves in the vicious circle of depression leading to underachievement at work (real or perceived) leading to more depression.

My therapist was Lisa Greer, thankyou for handing me my life back on a plate!

Dear Arbee,

Thanks for getting in touch, I’m delighted to hear that we have been able to help you regain control of your fate. Learning to cope with and managing anxiety and depression can be a real challenge; but with the right support, advice and help this can be achieved. I hope that you sharing your story will inspire others.

It is really encouraging for staff to get such positive feedback and I will be delighted to share it with Lisa and the rest of the team.

I do hope you'll be able to continue with your exercises and coping strategies and I wish you well for the future.

Kind regards

Jacqui
