"Excellent support - I wouldn't be here without it!"

If anyone who has a alcohol problem and can be admitted to the Chapman-Barker Unit - then do it! You will not regret a minute of it and after 5-7 days you will be free from the demon drink and felling much healthier.

My only disappointment is that I e-mailed the unit with regard to doing some volintary work on the unit - I'd really like to give something back - alas, they haven't replied.

Dear Steve,

Many thanks for taking the time to share your experience of a detox at our Chapman-Barker Unit and I am delighted to read that you found it so valuable and helpful. I will ensure that your kind words are passed onto the staff in the service and would like to wish you well in your continuing recovery.

I’m sorry to hear that no one has got back in touch in relation to your enquiry about volunteering at the unit. The unit’s volunteers are a real asset to the team and often the reason they get involved is because it enhances their life just as much as their contribution enhances our services.

I’ll liaise with the unit’s ward manager about this and ask her to get in contact with you as soon as possible

Kind regards

Communications Team, Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust
