"Staff have not got a clue what they are doing"

About: Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital

Husband came in with internal bleeding from the bowel, was taken by ambulance at the request of another paramedic, took over 10 hours to give him a scan, (and only because a fuss was made) prior to this they were going to send him home and for him to contact his own GP. Even though he was continually passing blood. Can not understand how any professional can come to this conclusion as the best way forward to deal with a patient who is passing blood with abdominal pain.

One of the health care workers came in with paracetamol for a different patient!

Staff were rude and did not have a clue what they were doing, you would be better off going to a vet or just use google as I'm sure it's what most staff do anyway.....I thought rake lane was bad this hospital is beyond a joke. Stick with the RVI or the freeman it's where the best nurses and doctors are....

Dear CircleofTrust,

Many thanks for bringing this to our attention. You will understand why it is a very disappointing review for us to read.

I am really sorry that your experience has been such a poor one. Can I ask you to contact us directly so that we can look into exactly what happened with your husband's care ? It is never, ever acceptable for our staff to be rude - we would like to swiftly address this and also understand a lot more about the clinical decision making that occurred in your husband's case and why you had reason to feel so concerned.

My email is Annie.laverty@nhct.nhs.uk - while your review remains anonymous I am unable to act to address any shortfalls in care that may exist .

Thanks for your help in working with us on this - if you are a healthcare professional yourself with good knowledge of the staff at the Freeman, your insight will be particularly helpful.

Thanks again,

Annie
