"Bad experience during gastroscopy"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

It was an awful experience, the person who performed the gastroscopy didn't tell me her name or let me read the information procedure before signing. I was given a very minimul amount of sedative whilst the scope was inserted then I felt and heard the whole procedure, it was the most awful thing I have experienced, including having to give birth to a still born baby! ! !

I didn't stop retching and coughing the whole time and was just patted on my right shoulder by a nurse who kept telling me it would be over soon. After 11 biopsies and feeling that my eyes were going to pop out and too much retching I had a tachycardia! !

The awful woman doing the procedure didn't speak to me once during the procedure and just kept on pushing the damn scope in and out! I could see another nurse putting thin yellow tubes down into the gastroscopy and the awful woman performing the process kept saying open, close, and I felt pain in my stomach!
