"Trip to A&E with 4yr old"

About: North Middlesex Hospital

I ended up in A&E at north middlesex with my 4 year old last night - a non-urgent case but one that required an A&E visit. On arrival the main A&E receptionist was warm, friendly and informative. I was really pleased to find that they have a separate paediatric A&E which we went straight through to. My daughter was assessed straight away by a lovely nurse who made the effort to put her at her ease. The waiting room was equipped with books and some toys which is really helpful. We only had to wait 25 minutes before we were seen by a nurse practitioner who again was great with my daughter, examiner her soft toy, giving high fives etc. The NP was efficient and competent. I left feeling really impressed with the set up and care that my daughter received. Thank you to the staff and organisation for a smooth, easy and surprisingly brief visit to A&E.

Thanks very much for your kind comments. Our staff really appreciate getting thank yous.

It’s also really helpful for other families so they can feel confident about our paediatric A&E services.

I’m the paediatric A&E manager and will share your comments with my team.

Please contact me at Samantha.davison@nhs.net if there is anything else you would like to add.
