"Fantastic services and care in NHS Highland"

About: NHS Highland (Health) Raigmore Hospital / Cardiology Raigmore Hospital / General Medicine Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a relative),

My 84 year old mum was admitted to Raigmore Hospital as an emergency and was in hospital for a week before getting home.

The care and attention she received was first class from the home visit by the GP to transfer by Ambulance and care in Raigmore Hospital.

In Raigmore she arrived very poorly but was quickly assessed, stabilised and started on treatment in the Acute Medical Assessment Unit.

The care and attention and level of information was very reassuring. She was transferred to Ward 6C under the care of the cardiologists. She could not have been better looked after by all of the staff and services.

This is clearly a very busy but exceptionally well run hospital with all professionals working together and the patient and family as equal partners.

Visibility of senior managers was very good.

Now we are back home and the follow up care has already kicked in. We will be personally thanking staff but also wanted to share our story.

Thank you NHS Highland for making a tough time a bit more manageable.

Dear Eclipses99

We have reviewed the Patient Opinion stories that we have received over the past year and I have noted that whilst we read your story, we never responded to your post. Please accept my sincere apologies for this.

I was very sorry to read about your mother’s illness but really pleased to read about the care and treatment she received from everyone involved in her care. I can only imagine how scary it must be being admitted to hospital and being examined and treated by lots of different people. Therefore, it was reassuring to read about your mother’s experience and how the whole family were kept up to date and felt involved in the decisions about her care. This is so important.

I do hope that she has continued to recover well.

Thank you again for sharing.

Take care

Martin.
