"Cancelled Operation"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / General Medicine

(as the patient),

Told to report to ward 205 @ Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for 10am. I did this only to find out that the ward was not expecting me, so I sat in the day room for 2hours till they contacted the consultant. I was then told to go home and come back the next day at 7 am, when I told them this was not possible as I use public transport. They then told me that it would be put on my record as a refusal of treatment and I would go to the bottom of the waiting list. It is not my fault that the pre asseament team do not talk to the ward but it is me who will suffer, and because of this I will have to attend at a hospital to get blood transfusions every week till the operation is done. I find this level of care very very poor.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on our services. I am very sorry that communication was not as it should have been in terms of involving you in the organisation of your care. I will share this with the staff concerned.

Best Wishes

Melanie
