"ward 35"

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital

I stayed in ward 35 for 5 nights some staff were ok some not. I was relatively young but my stay was stressful having to watch old ladies in pain having to wait up to 2 1/2 hours for pain relief and bedpan. One nurse in particular worked at the pace of a sloth hence 2 1/2 hours to give 10 patients their medication also one night a lady was nearly falling out of the bed needing a bed pan and pain relief, I told the nurse to see her as i wasn't in to much pain but they didn't also nobody introduced themself all in all it was not a very nice experience also after visiting at night the welfare assistant were more concerned doing the tidying of the words than the welfare of the patients I.e patients desperate for bed pans. You just felt you had no dignity.

Dear Madam

Thank you for taking the time to share your in-patient experience here at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. I am sorry to read about your observations of the care and treatment of patients on the ward. This is not the standard we would expect, especially at a time when you and the other patients needed support most.

Your comments will be passed onto the ward matron so that they can improve and develop their service moving forward.

I would be grateful if you would contact the Patient Relations team directly on 01253 955588 so that we can get further details about what happened and ensure we learn from your experience.

Yours faithfully

Andrew Heath
