"At the moment I can't think ..."

About: St James's University Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

At the moment I can't think of anything positive to say about this hospital

What could be improved

Patient care needs vast improvement from first contact via A&E to treatment on the wards.

My wife attended A&E after banging her head. She was sent home after a few hours and then when she returned to A&E 36 hours later after the symptoms became worse she was discharged at 11pm on her own after 12 hours with a prescription for anti-sickness tablets.

Then she had to be readmitted after a small fit. Initial tests were done then nothing for 6 days.It was like they expected her to either make a miraculous recovery or die.

They did manage to move her around a ward to two (probably to make the figures look good) but did no more tests until I had strong words with a registrar and then a consultant.

But the ward she ended up on seems to think that patients are an inconvenience that have to be tolerated, Want to buzz for a nurse. Forget it they turned off the buzzers.

I witnessed one nurse shouting at a patient in a most unprofessional manner. This should not happen

Anything else?

This is a hospital that time would like to forget. Consider anywhere else first if you want treatment.
