I had my first appointment for pain in the right hip in the Spring and the second five weeks later as it had become much worse and was limiting every aspect of my life. Six weeks after that I had a hip replacement and eight weeks later have almost full mobility and am back at work. As a health professional and former Healthwatch trustee I have a very critical eye but I can honestly say everything was fantastic and I have nothing to criticise! From my appointment with the consultant through to my surgery and recovery on Redlands ward where I stayed for three days, I found the staff empathetic and kindly. (The food was also very good for a vegetarian!)
I was especially impressed with the lovely manner of all the staff, especially some of the staff on the ward for whom nothing was too much trouble. I think selection processes for nursing assistants have got better since I was one in 1981! That was especially good to see as there were some frail elderly people on the ward.
My son was also admitted to the Royal Berks last year after his appendix burst and his treatment then was also exemplary. I cannot praise the Royal Berks and it's staff enough. Thank you.
