"Forth Valley Royal Hospital Orthopedics"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I have had tenosynovitis for 12 months. I started seeing a physio at Forth Valley Royal in Nov 2014. I had a steroid injection in Dec 2014. It didn't work. It was agreed that the next step after physio etc would be a referral to orthopaedics.

My last physio apt was in early May 2015. I was made aware that I wouldn't be seen as an emergency. In July, I called to ask how much longer I would have to wait. I was told that orthopaedics hadn't received the referral from physio until early June! ! Ridiculous! Three wks for a referral to be passed from one dept to another in the same building! I am unable to work due to the wrist condition, and have lost muscle tone. I am in pain and have tried various prescription medication.

I know people have emergencies and it is a busy dept, but now I have been waiting 14 weeks and I haven't even received any notification regarding an apt. I am in limbo. I have dealt with Forth Valley Hospital previously and they have always been fantastic, but I am disappointed about being left in pain without knowing when I will be seen.

Dear cdl79

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, I would like to take this opportunity apologise for the experience that you have had. At NHS Forth Valley we work hard to provide a high quality standard of care and unfortunately we have failed to meet this standard at this time.

I have shared your experience with the staff of both the Physio Department and Orthopaedics and would appreciate the opportunity to investigate this situation further and wondered if you would be willing to contact me, my email address is p.marland@nhs.net or alternatively you can contact me on 01324 566523.

Again please accept my apologies for the delays you have experienced and also the ongoing pain that you are suffering.

Kindest regards

Pauline Marland
