"Saints in my eyes."

About: John Radcliffe Hospital

I had reason to be admitted to this hospital just a week ago after experiencing a small Heart Attack.

On arrival I was very surprised as it was late at night during the week on just how busy accident and emergency department was.

I was rapidly processed through departments and various investigations to combat my problem.

I was continually struck on just how hard all the staff were working as a well oiled machine.

Professionally and with much humanity I was treated by every single member of hospital staff.

This was to continue for the 5 days I spent in the hospital recovering.

When I say all staff, I mean from porters, to cleaners to what I call hotel type staff with meals tea coffee and all sorts being there for you at all times and with much more humanity and professionalism than I bet their pay gets nowhere near reflecting the pride they clearly all took as part of the hospital's teams.

My highest praise is for the doctors and all the nursing staff irregardless of skills in just how hard they worked and did that work showing the greatest care for those they were charged with looking after.

To say I feel proud of our NHS would be an understatement, I felt always that I was a special patient and this did much to take away the fears I have about being prodded and probed by people who I did not know 10 minutes before.

The Bean counters who look at percentages would do well to spend a week in this hospital to get the fuller reality of what our NHS does and what the people who work in our NHS actually give which is far and above what they are actually paid to do.

I did not see even one person who was not doing their level best for their particular calling which was part of the hospitals teams.

I honestly felt that I was being looked after in the way my own family would care and look after me if I were unwell, and that is the greatest praise I can think off for these wonderful people and a wonderful hospital within our wonderful NHS.

I am now at home feeling so much better and with the feeling that I would stand up and fight for our NHS as it stands today as they are still clearly doing far more than whatever pay they get, they use equipment's and medications in the best advantage of the patient every single time.

I would say just once more, that I am proud of our NHS and more so of all the people who work within the NHS and their personal efforts to give of their best for the patients in their care at this wonderful place of healing and care.

You are all saints in my eyes.

Wow, thank you so much for this wonderful feedback. We are so happy to hear that you experienced the efficient, professional and compassionate care that we expect all of our patients to experience. Our staff are trained and encouraged to treat all patients as individuals and to do their utmost to ensure that everyone under their care is treated in the way that they would wish to be treated themselves, or indeed the way they would hope their family member or friend would be treated. Thank you for taking the time to show your appreciation for all of the levels of staff who attended to you. We are glad to hear that you are feeling much better. Your comments will be passed on to those involved.
