I attended outpatients eye clinic for a 9:45 am appointment. At 10:30am patients were informed that one consultant was running 15min late and the other 1 hour late - no explanation why. At 11:05 two patients were called. There had been no update on the timings of appointments. I was then 1h-20min past my appointment. I walked out and explained why to reception. I will avoid attending this hospital if at all possible. I have had appointments at other hospitals and have rarely had to wait more than several minutes. The appointment system at Pontefract just does not seem to work. I could understand having to wait if a doctor is called out but this was an eye clinic and how it could be over 1hour-20min out with appointments is beyond me. If you are given an appointment - take a packed meal. Message to the hospital - keep patients informed.
