I was admitted to A&E yesterday due to severe pain I am getting after having my wisdom tooth removed Monday. The pain has been so severe I wasn't keeping up with pain killers and have accidentally took too many paracetamol. I was admitted to CRU and put on a drip, the staff there were very friendly and helpful and pain relief was given about 3. 30pm.
Evening came and pain started setting in so asked where night meds were (earlier when spoke with doctor I was advised I would be given a pain killer ibrufen and mouthwash that should all help the pain and I should hopefully get a better sleep) so when they finally came round with meds at 11pm all I was given was ibrufen which I knew would not help with the pain I was in I would also need a pain killer which I did not get.
I was moved wards at 12am last night and since then I have been pleading with nurses to help me as I'm in so much pain, they are not being one bit sympathetic to my pain and this is now 11am and I'm still waiting for a doctor who is not even on the ward yet and I'm just being told basically tough that I'm in so much pain and have' slept all night i'll just need to wait, all I have done is lay crying my heart out in pain all morning and this is how I'm being treated and spoke to!
It is down right arrogant and out of order that in a hospital in feeling I'm being tortured and punished for something I didn't do! There is definitely some work that needs done to improve this department and staff attitude and the way patients are treated.
