"Good colonoscopy care but frustrating phone contact"

About: Leicester General Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I recently had a colonoscopy procedure done. The clinical team from the nurses to registrar doctor to the consultant were all very professional and gave me confidence that I was in safe hands. There was some light hearted humour during the procedure which definitely helped to alleviate any anxiety I had.

In recovery I was met by a lovely nurse who explained aftercare/treatment and read through and explained my colonoscopy report to me. From start to finish my experience at the endoscopy outpatient day unit at LGH was a very positive one.

The only issue I found extremely frustrating was trying to get through on the phone to book my initial appointment. Had to try many times to get through and twice waited over 30 minutes to speak to someone. Very difficult to do when you are at work!

Dear Misty5 Thanks for taking the time to post your comment. We are really pleased to hear how well you have been cared for by our clinical team during your colonoscopy procedure at the General, but sorry that you were frustrated when trying to get through to the department by phone. Your feedback is much appreciated and will be shared with staff to improve the service for future patients. Kind regards, Communications team, Leicester's Hospitals
