About: Countess Of Chester Hospital

Following a CT scan I was referred by the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre to the Gastroenterology Department at the Countess of Chester for a colonoscopy towards the end of July.

The pre-admission review and the procedure itself all went very smoothly and two polyps were removed entirely painlessly and with no after effects. The nursing staff were all very courteous and efficient and the consultant and their colleague were very competent and professional. Full marks for the whole team. Two less positive comments. It took close to three months from referral to admission and when I had a further review with my oncologist at Clatterbridge two weeks later, they had not received a report or results.

Response from Countess Of Chester Hospital

Dear Mr Guyton

Thank you for your feedback.

We appreciate this has been a worrying time for you and we would like to thank you for taking the time to compliment the staff who have treated you.

Please be assured that your kind words will be shared with our staff in the Gastroenterology service.

We hope you are recovering well from your procedure and that you will be satisfied with any treatment and care you receive in this Trust in future.

However, we were sorry to learn of your concerns about the length of time from referral to admission, and the delay in forwarding the test results to your Oncologist.

We would be happy to discuss this with you in more detail.

Please feel free to contact the PALs Department on Freephone 0800 195 1241 and select option 2 or email cochpals@nhs.net to give us more information about your experience. This will also give us the opportunity to feedback to you personally regarding these concerns.

Thank you once again.
