"labour & delivery of our son"

Leading up to the birth of our son I visted triage in the Delivery Suite on several occasions because I was worried, everyone I dealt with was fantastic & really reassuring which is what I needed. I had quite a few appointments with consultants & again was more than happy with everything. I even had a consultant wish me Happy Birthday when they saw the date on my notes, I was really touched! I was made to feel like an individual.

When the time came for me to have my baby it wasn't what I expected, any birth plan went out the window! It was long & tough but every step of the way I was completely taken care of. From all the amazing midwifes on Lexden Ward to all the extremely clever & patient doctors on Delivery Suite, I don't have a single complaint! There were times during labour that I know I was probably a real pain to deal with & I know there were a few times I shouted & swore at people, i certainly didnt mean to & i hope they've forgiven me! I feel so lucky to have had our son at Colchester Genral & would highly recommend it to any pregnant ladies in Essex!

I also dealt alot with the midwives from Hawich Hospital & was a case study for a student midwife who I believe are closely linked with Colchester & again they were just brilliant! If ever you get asked to be a case study say yes! You feel like you've got your own private midwife who comes to appointments with you & takes care of everything!
