Having had initial replacement in 2007 i had revision surgery in 2012 after initail success I experienced mounting pain steadily worsening. My consultant (who is excellent) evenutally referred me for a second opinion which confirmed the diagnosis and I was told I would need to have another revision in Feb.Mar.2015. Meanwhile I had gone from mild pain and a limp to severe pain and having to use 2 walking sticks. I had my pre op and waited for an appointment date for the op, and waited and waited and after involving PALS was given a date 3 weeks ago for the 28th Sept. To be admitted on the 27th to ward 35 one week later I was informed by telephone that the date would now be Oct., a letter would follow confirming this, I still have not received written confirmation, to rub salt further I discovered that no mention had been made of revision surgery instead I appeared as a normal hip replacement and as such was constantly pushed down and down the list with no chance of any respite., to make matters worse my friend saw her consultant at Barrow on the 8th Sept, for the first time and given a date in Oct.. I have always had excellent treatment from LRI buton this occasion nothng I do or say seems to get to the right people, I feel sure that my consultant is not aware of the situation as they were adamant I would be seen ASAP.
I am still waiting, still in agony and comtemplating life in a wheelchair such is the situation.
"Hip Revision 2nd attempt."
