We all currently have to travel to Paisley for Accident and Emergency, however this is a minimum of 20 miles away, depending on whereabouts we live. After 8pm there is no public transport to return us home, not everyone is entitled to Patient Transport or for the Health Board to pay for a Taxi. These taxis cast a minimum of £40, again this is dependent on where people stay. Some people when discharged have no way of knowing how they are going to return home. Some of these people are vulnerable. When our roads are blocked around the Vale of Leven Boundary ie A82 and Erskine Bridge, we have added difficulties, as our roads are in such a way designed, that it affects all roads going in and out of Dumbarton, Helensburgh and Vale of Leven. Therefore, if Accident and Emergency Dept was reinstated it would give people a better chance of getting to A and E Dept quicker, therefore receiving treatment quicker. Plus, allowing patients to be discharged with a better chance of being able to return home. This would also remove a lot of traffic from the A82 travelling back and forth from Paisley RAH
