"Friendly staff but had to chase information"

About: Sheffield Children's Hospital / Accident and emergency Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust / Emergency ambulance Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust / NHS 111

(as a parent/guardian),

We called 111 as our sun vomited blood. They sent an ambulance who arrived quickly. The responder ran rests and called for an ambulance. My son was taken to the children’s. We were seen very quickly. A few hours later we were moved to a ward and stayed for 2 nights. Staff very friendly and kind to my son but we had to chase a lot and had to ask 4 different nurses to bring my son a bottle. Also there didn’t seem to be much info sharing – we repeated the same story several times

Thank you for sharing the experience of urgent care as a parent. I am pleased that the service you received from 111, the ambulance service and from the Accident and Emergency Department was good.

I hope that your Son has now made a full recovery. I note your comments that staff on the ward were friendly and kind. However I am concerned that there were problems with for you in communicating with staff and with the ward team sharing information between them.

We will ensure that this feedback is passed onto the team and also contributes to the development of the urgent care strategy in Sheffield.
