Our beautiful Mum Jennifer was under her consultant for Multiple Myeloma and renal failure for 18 months. Sadly she passed away of other complications but the care and treatment shown by the Staff nurses was exceptional! They treated her with dignity and respect in her last days, and they offered security and support to my dad and my sisters and I. Whilst there were complications on the whole Mum preferred being in Brighton then the Conquest because it was cleaner, more organised and methodical. She did complain about the food quality and often the hot beverage machine would break but trivial and often a talking point when her energy levels were low. One thing we did observe and would like to be considered a "change" is the way the patients get from one part of the hospital to the other. ie: freezing cold wind tunnel with sideways rain and orderlies whom seem to forget how fragile their wheelchair passengers are. A blanket would not have gone a miss on these days - but in the future an enclosed tunnel / access would be good. Also the McMillian Nurse was superb in the advise, compassion and understanding what the family needed to get through this trauma. They too are worth their weight in Gold. Thank you Haematology / Oncology / renal for helping my mum. She is free from pain now and we praise your personnel service and humanity.
"Exceptional Kindness and care to our Mum"
