What I liked
After a small incident with my son eating something he shouldn't i was advised to take him down to A&E at the DRI, i went to reception and was seen by a doctor within 15 minutes which i thought was brilliant, i was told we would need a second opinion from a doctor and i was sent to another part of the A&E department. I was told by a very rude man to take a seat and wait, which i did after an hour had gone by nothing happened i spoke to the receptionist who was hardly ever at the desk who told me i was next in line, another hour passed and still nothing if it was just myself i wouldn't have minded so much but the fact that my 11 month old son had been stuck in the same room for two hours with nothing to drink or eat started to irritate me, also the fact that no one else was in the room with us so it wasn't as if it was very busy, there was a very helpful nurse that kept trying to help but after 2hours and 45 minutes i decided enough was enough i got rude with the lady on reception who apologised and within minutes a doctor came to see us, we saw the doctor for about 2 minutes and was told we could go. I understand the doctors are busy but in the waiting room there was a big sign stating that everyone would been seen in less than an hour ???????
What could be improved
The receptionist should have some sort of log as to who is waiting and how long, also if more urgent cases come in then surely someone could have popped in the room and told us.
Anything else?
I will be glad when A&E moves to the Derby City hospital.
