"Childrens Ward"

About: Cumberland Infirmary

My Shy 8 year old daughter went onto childrens ward for her tonsil's out. My daughter took to the nurse looking after her straight away which is normally unusual for her. The nurse made my daughter feel comfortable and asking her questions to encourage conversations. Nothing was a problem, if you needed anything all you had to do was ask, we were told everything we needed to know on arrival. As a parent I found all the staff very welcoming, you can see that the nurses work very hard, always busy doing something. There was also another staff member, think they were more of an health care assistant, they were lovely and again my daughter took to them really quick talking about dogs and pets, nothing was ever a problem, I just had to ask. We had a great experience on Children ward and i just wanted to share our experince.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I know how worrying it can be when your child has to come to hospital and the anxiety this can cause; so to have such a positive experience is excellent to hear.

The staff work very hard to make the children in their care feel relaxed and comfortable during their stay and they will be thrilled to know they have made such a difference to you and your daughter's experience. I shall pass your comments to the Chief Matron for Children's services for sharing with the staff.

I hope your daughter is recovering well

Helen
