"Heart attack - 76 year old 6 at 2.00am on 6"

Heart attack 2.00am in Tunbridge Wells and first paramedic arrived 5 mins. after 999 call. I was asleep but woke with severe chest pains. The pains were increasing in intensity and I took 2 x 75mg Asprin. Woke my wife and requested she phone 999. About 15 minutes later, ambulance arrived with two more paramedics. Beause of the urgency and 24/7 facilities at the William Harvey Hospital (Ashford), they obtained permission to take me there. On arrival, the medical staff responsible quickly examined my heart and noted that a major artery was totally blocked. They cleared the blockage and prepared me for the fitting of a Stent. The Stent was entered through an artery / vein in my right wrist and was successfully located in what was the offending artery to my heart. It must have been around this point in time that the horrendous pain I had experienced, vanished! The procedure indicated above is basically correct bearing in mind that although it was carried ot under a local anaesthetic I had been administered Morphine.
