"Huntercombe Hospital, Watcombe, Torquay"

About: Watcombe Hall Annex

(as a parent/guardian),

Our daughter is in this psychiatric inpatient unit after two years of deterioration of her mental health and experience of local CAMHS and two other inpatient units. We wanted to record our great appreciation of this unit to thank them and reassure others who may be thinking of using this unit. Our daughter is 17 with depression, emergent borderline personality disorder, self harm and three suicide attempts, two while in other in patient units. She was adopted age 3 with two siblings and had considerable trauma, abuse and neglect. Watcombe is outstanding in the care if offers to its patients. Our daughter is wonderful but very troubled and complex and they 'get her' completely, going to huge lengths to engage and support her with psychiatry, psychotherapy, occupational therapy and education, including when she is at her most challenging. They have the most amazing and dedicated staff, including a first rate psychiatrist and manager. They are also unfailingly polite and supportive of us parents, and we are not always at our nicest in all this.
