"Blood Test"

About: Palmer Community Hospital

I went to get my bloods taken yesterday morning and I got there for opening (half 8) to pick my number up which was 37! It turns out, people had been queueing since 7:45. By half 9 had over 50 people there and there was only one colleague taking bloods. My blood didn't get took until 9:50, I had waited over an hour for my bloods to be taken even though I got there for opening just because the person had nobody to help them! I think you need to look into having more than one colleague taking bloods at busy parts of the day.

Thank you for taking the time to post on the NHS Choices website your recent experience of our Phlebotomy service at Palmer Community Hospital (PCH). I am sorry you had to wait as long as you did for your bloods to be taken. We are aware the Phlebotomy service at PCH is exceptionally busy. We would normally operate the service at PCH with three Phlebotomists and I can only apologise if there was only one on duty on the day you visited. We have recruited more staff to the service and they are currently undergoing their training. I apologise once again and hope if you have cause to have more bloods taken at PCH, the service is quicker next time. Kind regards Lorraine B Lambert Chief Executive
