"Pre-Labour Ward"

About: Croydon University Hospital

I am writing this review sat next to my girlfriend who is pregnant and as horrified as I am in the Maternity (pre-labour) Ward.. There are only 2 great Midwives on staff here (1 is a student) and 4 women giving birth all around us in the beds next to, opposite and room beside.. No'one can be sent to the Labour Ward because it is full and understaffed aswell we are told.. This is the second day we have been here and the first day was the same.. The first day we made a trip over to Labour Ward ourselves to try to help some of the people giving birth in the Pre-Labour Ward and they told us theirselves that they were full. If you want to give birth in an understaffed Pre-Labour Ward next to other people giving birth and being sick.. Then come to Mayday Hospital.. otherwise stay away! I can say this as I am sitting in Pre-Labour Ward right now horrified and the smell of sick from the woman whos giving birth and being sick at the same time in the bed next to us.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are very sorry to hear that it did not live up to the high standards of care we aim to offer to women and families using our services.

We have passed your feedback on to Ann Morling, our Director of Midwifery; she is concerned to hear about your experience and would like to talk to you directly. If you contact our complaints team on complaints@croydonhealth.nhs.uk or 020 8401 3352, then they will put you in touch with Ann.
