"Felt as though my GP did not listen effectively"

I went to my GP today (changed doctors a couple of months ago) to have a review of my anti-depressants, they were having various side effects which were concerning me, the worst one that I had put on 2 stone in about 7 months. This was not helping my mood, nor was it helping my health -I felt it was adding to my anxiety and my depression and I was very concerned about it. He told me the dosage wasn't high enough to treat my anxiety but it was pointless me staying on them and increasing the dosage because of the side effects. He told me that he would prescribe new medication and once I had taken them for 2 - 3 weeks I was to go back and see him.

I went to the chemist, and was told that I couldn't drink, or possibly drive on these tablets. Something the doctor failed to mention to me.

I also discovered that this same type of medication had been prescribed to me years ago and I took a really bad reaction to it. I was told then that I shouldn't take this medication again.

I felt let down, clearly the doctor hadn't even looked at my records or he would have known that I couldn't tolerate this medication at all. I felt upset too, I am supposed to be lowering the dosage of my current medication to get a replacement medication and I have been prescribed an alternative which I now know I will not be able to use. I feel as if I have not been cared for properly and I wonder if the doctor even bothered to look at my history?
