"Access to podiatry service"

End of Jun 2015, I got a self referral form to fill in from my doctor for a request for podiatry service in Edinburgh. Filled in, ticked the boxes, add the information required and sent it off to the address provided on the form.

5 weeks later I called the service to find out when they would see me and found they had no knowledge of the request and the clinic I had sent it to - as written on the form - had been closed for 2 years! ! ! I had been given an outdated form.

I am know waiting for a new form and was told it would probably be 10 weeks before I would see someone for an initial assessment.

There must be a more efficient way to make an appointment......

Feeling let down by the service to be honest!

I am very sorry to read of your experiences when you recently tried to contact the podiatry service. I have been in touch with the podiatry department and they would like to apologise for your experiences. I would be happy to put you in touch with them directly and so that they can endeavour to locate your original referral form and to ask which clinic is closest to you so that you can get an appointment close to home.

Alternatively application forms are available in podiatry clinics but I realise that this is only helpful if you know where these clinics are. Previously, GP’s have printed forms to make them available in their practices and it appears that this has happened to you.
