"Excellent care my wife received"

About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary

My wife has spent a month on the medical wards being treated for a dangerously high blood calcium level. She received a high quality of care from staff on the acute medical unit and ward 39. Due to her condition my wife was also in contact with the hospital Mental health nurses who are based in A & E. The input from the mental health team was insensitive with no regard for my wife's privacy or dignity, it was also inaccurate. When I informed the Mental health team that if they attempted to see my wife again I would prevent them from doing so, physically if necessary they said they felt threatened. I find it difficult to believe that people so insensitive could feel threatened. Shame! I am sorry that the care and kindness my wife received should be tainted by such staff.

We're sorry you had the experience from the mental health teams. The mental health service is provided by Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust and we'll pass on these comments to them. We want to thank you for the comments about the staff on the acute medical ward and we'll ensure they are made aware of the praise you have given them. Many thanks.
